The circadian clock is anchored primarily by bright light, and morning exposure is the strongest signal. Indoor lighting is far dimmer than daylight even when it does not feel that way, so a bright room is a weak substitute for going outside.
This is why evening-only interventions often disappoint. Blackout blinds and screen filters reduce the delaying effect of evening light, and without a morning anchor there is nothing holding the timing in place for them to protect.
